Denham also received kudos from political group Americans for Prosperity when he announced his opposition to the Waxman-Markey energy bill, also known as the American Clean Energy and Security Act.

The bill proposes a cap-and-trade system to reduce emissions, which conservatives say will put an undue strain on businesses during difficult economic times.
