WSJM: Several SW Michigan Candidates Sign Anti Climate Tax Pledge
May 10, 2010
A group called Americans for Prosperity is inviting Michigan politicians to sign a pledge to oppose climate change legislation that could increase the size of government, and several from Southwest Michigan have done so. State Director of Americans for Prosperity Scott Hagerstrom tells us that such things as a cap and trade plan — which would allow carbon producers to buy and sell carbon credits — would only raise costs for business and send jobs overseas.
Congressman Fred Upton has signed the group’s “No Climate Tax” pledge, along with his opponent in the Republican primary, Jack Hoogendyk. Also, two of the GOP candidates for the 79th District State House seat — Paul Peterson and Al Pscholka — have signed the pledge.
